We live in a time where our existence and availability is strongly linked to our cell phone connectivity. In such circumstances if our cell phone stops catching network signals or receives poor transmission that leads to voice disruptions and call drops, we become as good as non-existent. This, we cannot afford.

Ava Systems, an eminent distributor of branded cell phone boosters thus brings you useful information and few tips to stay connected despite of poor network. They are simple steps that can be followed easily and come handy most of the times.

Lets learn 9 Tips to optimize your Mobile Network:-

1- Know your Mobile Network Signal Strength

The signal bar on the top right side of your mobile phone is just indicative; it often does not portray the exact status of signal strength. While most of us consider one or two bars as poor signal, three bars as an average signal strength and anything above that as excellent reception, the case is not so and vary from handset to handset. Signal strength is measured in dBm, the higher the dBm, the stronger is the signal. For example, -120 dBm indicates good signal while – 67dBm might mean call drop problem. Anything above -100 dBm is considered good signal strength.

Know your Mobile Network Signal Strength

The signal strength in dBm can be measured on Apple I-Phones by dialing a code *3001#12345#*. Doing this shall put the phone in test mode and the actual strength shall displace the signal bars. Android phone users may look out for the ‘signal strength indicator’ in their settings tab and check the actual signal.

Knowing your actual signal network and your mobile signal antenna strength can give clear picture of current situation and help you take further steps (if required) to strengthen weak signal.

2- Make a Virtual Signal Map

Map the areas in the house or office which receives maximum signal and which fall under low signal network by using your cell phone as a tool to measure strength in dBm. One you have identified this, you can conveniently move to an area with higher reception to make or take calls and for optimal data usage.

This shall also help you ascertain whether your premise requires a mobile signal booster device. We will take this up in details in the last point.

3- Open windows act as Signal Amplifiers

The construction material used in your building space often acts as a barrier for network reception. An open window helps in such cases. In case you are facing signal reception issue or an increasing number of call drops, open your windows. This will certainly amplify mobile network reception within your premise.

4- Know which Tower you are connected to

Pointing your cell phone towards the signal tower that you are connected to is known to increase mobile signal reception manifold. You can find out the tower that you are connected to through various free applications available in the market. Once you have found out, point your mobile phone towards the tower each time a signal issue is faced.

Please note that it is not necessary that your cell is connected to the nearest tower.

5- Change Grip

The antenna for mobile phone signal helps the cell phone to communicate. At times your tight grip on the phone at the place of internal antenna may cause call disruptions. Your hand here acts like an object of hindrance to seamless communication and results in weak signal reception and transmission.

Just removing your hand and placing it at a different place or loosening the grip may result in better signal strength and smoother communication.

Your phone may not be connected to the nearest cell phone tower (which you can check through one of the several free apps available). This may be a reason for call drops and low data connectivity. All you are required to do is turn your phone off for few seconds and switch it on again. Possibility is that your phone now gets connected to a nearer mast and receives better signal.

7- Climb up high

A clear line of sight is ideal for stronger cellular network. The higher you climb up the building or lift your phone; chances are that there are fewer obstacles between your phone and the network tower.

In case your phone is facing reception problem, elevation can behave as a network booster and connect you better.

8- Use Wi-Fi for calls

As an alternate to cellular network which might often fail you, staying connected through applications like Skype and what’s App is possible in case you are connected to a Wi-Fi router.

9- Switch to Mobile Signal Booster
